to the 2000 Census, 138,502 Illinois households do not have a telephone.
The Rural Affairs Council is working with the Universal Telephone
Assistance Corporation (UTAC) to reduce the number of phoneless households
in Illinois though telephone assistance programs like Lifeline
and LinkUp. Click
