On December 14, 2007, at the James R. Thompson Center in Chicago, Lt. Governor Pat Quinn together with representatives from The Spring Foundation, Polamer, Inc. and the Polish American Association, will call on fellow Illinoisans to send Christmas presents to families in need in Poland. To help spread joy around the globe this season, visit www.swiatecznapaczka.pl to select a region, city, and family in Poland. The website provides the addresses of those in need and their Christmas wish lists for essential items such as hygiene products, winter boots and warm clothing. More than 3,500 families have already been taken under the wing of caring residents, but hundreds remain! During this holiday season, Quinn is reaching out to the residents of Illinois for their help. Many of these hard-working families are financially unable to purchase gifts this holiday season, Quinn said. There is so much joy the caring people of Illinois can bring to families in need by supplying just a few presents. Gift givers should bring their presents to Polamer, Inc. on Sunday, December 16, where they will be shipped to Poland at a reduced rate of 37 cents/lb. Visit www.polamerusa.com to find the nearest location. Quinn will be joined by Zygmunt Matynia, Consul General to the Republic of Poland; Gosia Borysiewicz, President of the Spring Foundation; Joanna Bochenek, Vice President of Polamer, Inc.; and Joanna Borowiec, Executive Director of the Polish American Association. Illinois is home to more than 1 million Polish-Americans. The Spring Foundation seeks to raise awareness about Polish families in need in Poland and in Chicago. A friend of Polish American Association in Chicago, the Foundation is encouraging those who are unable to provide gifts this season to donate non-perishable food items to the Associations Food Pantry Program. Between 150-180 Chicagoland Polish American families receive food from the pantry each week! For more information or how to help those in need visit: www.swiatecznapaczka.pl or www.polish.org. |
