Governor Pat Quinn today kicked off the statewide launch of the newest Veterans’ Cash scratch-off lottery ticket, the Stars & Stripes ticket. The ticket’s net proceeds benefit rehabilitative programs and services for Illinois Veterans. In his first press conference since visiting Illinois troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, Governor Pat Quinn today joined wounded Illinois veteran Marine Corporal Chad Watson to urge caring citizens to help servicemembers by donating their unused frequent flyer miles to Operation Hero Miles. Operation Hero Miles is a program that helps military families visit service members who were injured in Iraq or Afghanistan and are recovering in military hospitals around the world. 08-10-2009 Governor Quinn Signs Veterans’ Bonus Bill CHICAGO – July 26, 2009. Governor Pat Quinn today signed into law a bill compensating Illinois Veterans for their service during the Global War on Terrorism. Any Illinois Veteran who served on active duty on or after Sept. 11, 2001 is eligible to receive $100.
