Week 5. Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle in Your Office

Applying the three-word philosophy of reducing, reusing, and recycling helps to create a greener, more fiscally responsible and efficient environment at work.  This week, consider following these three steps in your daily activities.

Enter your email address:

REDUCE:

I use e-mail for correspondence whenever possible and edit documents on my computer screen rather than printing multiple drafts

I post memos and publications online or on an office bulletin board rather than printing multiple copies

I use video and teleconferences for meetings to reduce travel time and excess commuting

REUSE:

I reuse office paper for notes, memos, and printing drafts of documents

I reuse file folders and envelopes and keep mailing lists current

I have cleaned my desk and given unneeded supplies to someone who can use them

RECYCLE:

I have a recycling box near or by my desk and I recycle at least 50 percent of the waste I produce

I do not have a recycling box near or by my desk, but I have requested one and will recycle at least 50 percent of the waste I produce

I set up a recycling station in the office for all employees to use
