America's longest-running Corvette show. 35th annual show includes variety pf special events for car enthusiasts; swap meet, exhibit, auction, etc. See automotive works of art exhibited on the resort's bucolic golf course.
Bob Leonard Memorial Walk   08/16/2008 TBD Through 06/29/2008
along both banks of the Fox River through downtown
Features a scenic walk along the banks fo the Fox River. Walkers raise money in memory of Bob Leonard, a long-time Downtown Partnership volunteer and River Corridor committee chairman. Funds are used toward river corridor projects -- walkway, riverbank stabilization, landscaping, etc. Entertainment, picnic lunch, t-sirts are provided to registered participants. Walk route includes the many projects on which Bob devited his energies.
Scarecrow Festival   10/10/2008 Through 10/12/2008
Lincoln Park, Main Street and 4th / 5th Streets
More than 100 custom-designed, hand-made scarecrows -- from traditional and child-like to whimsical and mechanical -- populate the park. Festival includes free live entertainment, great food, interactive children's events, music, and the Fox Art & Craft show ... and much more! Everything is family-oriented, so bring the kids and grandma!

Traditional Lighting of the Lights as the mayor and children throw the switch to illuminate all of downtown; street lights, Christmas trees, the City parks ... all holiday lights go on at the same time. Holiday music and songs prior to the officla Lighting, followed by the arrival of Santa and his elves. Downtown businesses are open all day prior to the Lighting, as well as after. Great occasion to welcome friends and family from out of town and make it truly a Holiday Homecoming.
Electric Christmas Parade   11/29/2008 5:30 p.m. Through 10/12/2008
Main Street, between 6th St. and 4th Avenue
This 85-unit, full-illuminated parade is one of the first night-time parades in Illinois. Features marching bands, car clubs, live animals, unique lighted floats, celebrity Grand Marshall ... 2007 parade featured a 4-car train, a smoke-breathing dragon, a 30-foot long pirate ship .... ALL brightly lit in the crisp night air. Of course, what Christmas Parade would be complete without the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus. Prior to the parade, come enjoy a free movie at 10 a.m. or a free concert at 2 p.m. in the Arcada Theater, or watch ice sculpting, enjoy the strolling Victorian carolers, do some shopping in the four unique quadrants of downtown, and sample our diverse restaurant choices.
