Goose Lake Prairie State Natural Area

Goose Lake Prairie State Natural area also known as “a sea of grass with pretty flowers.”  It is located on Grundy County, Goose Lake Prairie, which is approximately 50 miles southwest of Chicago and 1 mile southwest of the convergence of the Kankakee and Des Plaines rivers. Goose Lake Prairie is a reserved area to preserve nature. Also, Goose Lake Prairie serves as nesting habitat for some endangered bird species. Goose Lake Prairie wild life includes among many animals coyote, deer, beaver, badger, red fox, and rabbit. One of the best areas at Goose Lake Prairie is the hiking trail. These trails include 7 miles of spectacular views of flowers, plants and animals.
