Mt. Vernon Downtown After 5 Landmark Tour 05/15/2008 Appellate Courthouse (tours will begin and end) 1400 Main Street (State Highway 15) Starting at 5:00 p.m., the DA5 Landmark Tour will highlight the recently renovated 150 year old Appellate Courthouse, trolley tours of significant historic downtown sites and launch the Mt. Vernon Tourism brochure on downtown landmark sites. Added tours include the 70 year old renovated Granada Theater and the century old First United Methodist Church's art by nationally reknown artist Rodney Windfield on the Accension Wall and in the lobby The evening will also include a jazz band and a refreshments throughout the evening. St. Charles Bob Leonard Memorial Walk 08/16/2008 TBD along both banks of the Fox River through downtown Features a scenic walk along the banks fo the Fox River. Walkers raise money in memory of Bob Leonard, a long-time Downtown Partnership volunteer and River Corridor committee chairman. Funds are used toward river corridor projects -- walkway, riverbank stabilization, landscaping, etc. Entertainment, picnic lunch, t-sirts are provided to registered participants. St. Charles Electric Christmas Parade 11/29/2008 5:30 p.m. Main Street, between 6th St. and 4th Avenue This 85-unit, full-illuminated parade is one of the first night-time parades in Illinois. Features marching bands, car clubs, live animals, unique lighted floats, celebrity Grand Marshall ... 2007 parade featured a 4-car train, a smoke-breathing dragon, a 30-foot long pirate ship .... ALL brightly lit in the crisp night air. Of course, what Christmas Parade would be complete without the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus.
