Sustainable University Symposium

The Green Governments Coordinating Council's 2008 Sustainable University Symposium was hosted by the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC).

Over 250 college and university administrators, planners, facilites directors, engineers, architects, professors, and student leaders attended the day-long conference to share best practices and accomplishments in the effort to enhance sustainability and protection of natural resoures at Illinois institutions of higher learning. The annual event also seeks to empower young adults to pursue careers in the environmental sciences and make an investment in the sustainability of our state and our planet.

Panel discussion topics included renewable energy, alternative fuels, sustainable transportation, climate action plans, performance contracting, and financing green capital projects.
