Valedictorian Day at State Fair

Lt. Governor Pat Quinn salutes more than 100 of Illinois top high school graduates with Valedictorian Day at the Illinois State Fair in Springfield.
The Illinois valedictorians will receive a free pass to enjoy the State Fair where Lt. Governor Quinn will honor each valedictorian with an individual salute and declaration for their outstanding achievements.
I am honored to share a stage with some of the best and the brightest young people in Illinois, Quinn said. These students have shown an extraordinary commitment to their studies and to their futures over the past four years, and we look forward to seeing what they will accomplish during the next four.
The 100 students scheduled to attend Sundays ceremonies represent schools from all across the state, traveling from Murphysboro, Dixon, Quincy and more. I know that our valedictorians from across the Land of Lincoln are looking forward to sharing this honor with their families and friends who offered them such positive support.
To acknowledge the achievement of other Illinois valedictorians who are unable to attend Sundays ceremonies at the State Fair, Quinn will declare Sunday, August 12 to be State Valedictorian Day.
President Abraham Lincoln once called education the most important subject which we as a people can be engaged in, Quinn said. By devoting themselves to academic excellence, these young scholars are making a great contribution to the future of the Land of Lincoln.
