Judson University Compact Signing

This Tuesday, August 28, 2007, Lt. Governor Pat Quinn will celebrate Judson University Day in the land of Lincoln as the school officially marks its name change from Judson College to Judson University. Quinn will also welcome Judson as the newest member of the Illinois Sustainable University Compact, joining University President Jerry Cain in a signing ceremony.
The Compact sets out 12 achievable sustainability objectives for Illinois campuses, including purchasing renewable energy, incorporating green building practices in campus construction, developing sustainable transportation options, and improving water conservation.
We are proud to welcome Judson University as the 27th school to sign the Illinois Sustainable University Compact, committing to making green living and green learning a top priority on their campuses, Quinn said. Judson is already setting an example for other schools and organizations to follow with its impressive new green academic center, and by signing this Compact Judson University is again demonstrating its commitment to sustainability.
Following the ceremony and Compact signing, Lt. Governor Quinn will tour the newly opened Harm A. Weber Academic Center, which is a candidate for Gold LEED rating. Quinn will be joined by Senator Michael Noland, Representative Ruth Munson and Elgin Mayor Ed Schock.
The Harm A. Weber Academic Center has drawn national attention for its innovative construction, which features a fully integrated hybrid natural ventilation design, significant natural day lighting, a photovoltaic system integrated into the southern building envelope, and an extensive landscape improvement scheme.
