World Vision

On Wednesday, November 14, 2007, Lt. Governor Pat Quinn and Amber Johnson, Senior Director of Marketing and Communications at World Vision, will call Illinoisans into action to help children and families left homeless by devastating floods in Mexico and the Dominican Republic.

In southern Mexico, destructive, heavy rains have left more 1 million people in need of emergency assistance and more than 800,000 people homeless. At the same time, Hurricane Noel has displaced some 60,000 people in the Dominican Republic.

In this time of need, Lt. Governor Quinn is reaching out to the citizens of Illinois for their help. Thousands of people in Mexico and the Dominican Republic are facing extreme hardship right now, Quinn said. There is so much the good people of the Land of Lincoln can do to help these families.

Donations can provide food rations, water purification tablets, blankets and temporary shelter, and cook sets to children and families who need it the most. World Vision is rushing the emergency supplies to those displaced from their homes and searching for food, shelter and safety.

The non-profit organization is dedicated to helping children and their communities worldwide reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty.
