Lt. Governor Pat Quinn Joins Tammy Duckworth at Fisher House Groundbreaking Ceremony

CHICAGO – On Wednesday, December 10, at 9:00 a.m., Lt. Governor Pat Quinn joined with Department of Veterans Affairs Director Tammy Duckworth at the Hines VA Fisher House groundbreaking ceremony at Hines VA Hospital, 5000 S. 5th Avenue, Hines.
Fisher House, a nationwide effort to support our military families, provides temporary lodging to families of hospitalized active duty servicemembers and veterans. The Hines VA Fisher House will be one of the largest in the country, able to house up to 21 families.
“I salute the Fisher House Foundation, Hines VA Hospital and all those who contributed to make this important project a reality,” Quinn said. “It is important that we honor and care for our veterans and their families, not only today, but throughout the year.”
Having visited the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center Fisher House four times, Lt. Governor Quinn knows just how important the lodging, services and care offered are to our military families.
The Hines VA Fisher House will provide a communal kitchen, library/living room, family room and laundry facilities. Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital treats more than 50,000 veterans each year. The Fisher House Foundation is committed to projects designed to improve the quality of life of our servicemembers, veterans and their families.
