Naomi Davis of Chicago founded a collective called “Blacks in Green” (BIG), whose goal is to create green economic development in African American communities and include lush greenways and energy efficient affordable housing. Davis is an attorney, entrepreneur and activist who seeks to bridge the gap between communities and developers in order to foster green business opportunities, civic activism and healthy lifestyle.

“Blacks in Green” not only helps the environment, but also improves the economic well-being of the people within the community.   By promoting development without displacement, local energy production, resource management, green collar jobs and green homes, “Blacks in Green” has become an advocate in developing self-sustaining African American communities.
