Green Governments Coordinating Council
About the GGCCThe GGCC consists of members from 15 state agencies and serves to improve the sustainability of Illinois government operations and policies. First formed by an executive order, the GGCC is now established under the Green Governments Illinois Act, enacted in October 2007. Chaired by Lt. Governor Pat Quinn, the GGCC helps more than 70 state agencies, boards and commissions adopt a greener way of delivering services to Illinois residents. The GGCC also holds monthly subcommittee meetings to address specific projects and ongoing initiatives. According to law, agencies' Green Team liaisons "shall be given full management support and provided with the necessary resources to meet the goals" of the Green Governments Illinois Act. |
GGCC SymposiumsThe GGCC hosts three annual symposiums (tailored to state agencies, municipalities, and universities and colleges) to foster exchange of ideas and best practices for protecting the environment.
