Phase Two
As a result of our work in Phase One, I have been appointed to Chair an ad-hoc committee of NLGA called “Helping Americans Breathe Easier – Winning with Asthma.” Phase Two will allow six more states to expand the “Winning with Asthma” Coaches Asthma Clipboard Program.
Resolution in Support of “Helping Americans Breathe Easier"
“Winning with Asthma” is an online program that will train physical education teachers and coaches across Illinois in asthma management. Implemented in schools in Utah and Minnesota, the “Winning with Asthma” program was created so coaches could learn about asthma, how it affects an athlete’s ability to compete, and how the coach can help athletes manage their symptoms while playing their best.
“Asthma is a chronic disease that must be managed not only by a child’s parents, but by the teachers and coaches as well, said Quinn. “I support this collaborative effort to make sure our schools are informed and our student athletes are able to play safely.”
