Illinois Waterways Initiative

Pat Quinn Thursday called for a $1 billion Illinois Waterways Initiative to control floods and make sure the water in our rivers, lakes � and kitchen faucets � is clean and safe.

Hooked on Phonics
On Thursday, August 30, 2007, Lt. Gov. Pat Quinn will promote youth literacy by joining representatives of Hooked on Phonics at Crispus Attucks School, 3813 S. Dearborn St. in Chicago as the company presents $100,000 worth of interactive learning kits to Chicago schools, after-school programs and literacy organizations.

Judson University Compact Signing
This Tuesday, August 28, 2007, Lt. Governor Pat Quinn will celebrate �Judson University Day� in the land of Lincoln as the school officially marks its name change from Judson College to Judson University. Quinn will also welcome Judson as the newest member of the Illinois Sustainable University Compact, joining University President Jerry Cain in a signing ceremony.

Operation Walk
On Thursday, August 23, 2007, Lt. Governor Pat Quinn will join with a volunteer medical team from Illinois that will be traveling to Ecuador in November on a medical mission to perform 45 knee replacements on impoverished patients who otherwise could not afford joint replacement surgery.
